See The World
Seek Adventure Travel Happy
I've been thinking about writing this post for a long time. It's been something that's been really hard for me to admit. Even while I write this, I think about deleting this post and going back, but 'the times they are a changin'.
About 6 years ago I started blogging, and about 5 1/2 years ago is when Happy Travelers first went live. Over the years this has grown from something that just my family and friends read to having people from all corners of the globe comment on my humble little site. I've had a number of people let me know that what we've shared has been helpful, motivational, or at times hilarious. The fact that I've reached anyone is incredibly special to me. A little over a year ago, Liz joined me in this crazy blogging world. She shared my passion for travel and for helping people find ways to see the world. I am so thankful for all the work and time she put into this knowing that this blog was not a get rich quick plan. THANK YOU LIZ! But I just can't keep things up anymore. Writing a blog isn't necessarily hard, but writing one that anyone other than you and the crickets reads is hard. Between doing something worth writing about, research, social media, website maintenance etc. It all really adds up. And I really hate doing things half assed. If you have blogs that you read regularly, let them know you appreciate what they do. You'll make their day! Liz and I have both realized how busy life is and I've realized that to make this little blog into a big blog that it would take more time and resources than what I can currently give it. And that's not a terrible thing. My day job is keeping me busier than ever, but I love my job. Pat and I bought a new house on the Oregon Coast last year which we love, but it also requires a bunch of time. Not to mention we want to spend as much time as we can learning to surf, hiking, sailing, and actually traveling! SO! Happy Travelers will remain live indefinitely. I may still occasionally post when I have something worthwhile to post. Liz will also still have this platform to blog about her travels as well if she likes. But things will be less regular...way less regular. I will probably stop posting on the Facebook page, and that may come down all together eventually. I will keep posting to Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest. Things will just slow down considerably. I'm sad but also really excited. I had hopped that this blog would grow large enough to have enough revenue to make the website fees and time be worth it, and while I love travelling and sharing the tips I've learned with others, that simply isn't enough anymore. But, this does mean I will have more time for the other fun things I love! I want to seriously thank every. single. person. who has ever stopped by Happy Travelers, shared a story, contributed to a post or otherwise encouraged me. Honestly, every time I see a comment on a post, it makes me so happy. Thank you for helping me do what I've loved for so long. I'll always be here for anyone who has travel questions. I LOVE helping people plan a trip. I'll still be overly excited to share new discoveries. If you still want to stay along for the ride, feel free to find me on Instagram and Twitter @2happytravelers! And no matter where your journey takes you, always remember to travel happy! Skeeter

Skeeter
Hi there! I'm Skeeter. I grew up moving a lot and that makes me a bit restless for travel and exploration. I started this blog with my husband Pat when we decided to backpack New Zealand for a year. We are always looking for the next adventure and are loving life. We're just your average couple with two sassy dogs and a love for travel. We're sharing our travels and the tips we pick up along the way. LIZHello! I'm Liz. Blogging is very new to me, but I'm so excited to finally write as much as I talk! Archives
