Seek Adventure Travel Happy
So, right after I said that I wasn't going to be posting very much...I went on a trip. So yeah, here I am with a post about my whirlwind 36 hour trip to Seattle. Which was SO much fun. I have been wanting to go to Seattle for a long time, and I don't have any good excuses for why I haven't, but thanks to a work trip that took me through there I can finally say I've been. I first have to give a BIG thank you to one of my best friends, Abby! She shuttled me everywhere. Back and forth from the airport and all over town and showed me a wicked amazing time. I know that I wouldn't have seen as many things as I did in the short amount of time I had. So, what can you see and do in Seattle if you too have an awesome friend that will drive you around? 1. Kiss a fish at Pike's Place Market So, a little back story. There was this nice looking lady that wanted to take a picture of the fish, but this guy said she had to kiss a fish to do it. She looked suspicious, so I stepped in to show her that it wasn't really that bad. Aren't I a nice friend to strangers!? If kissing fish isn't your thing (and who can blame you) then there are miles and miles of flowers that are GORGEOUS and smell a lot better. So maybe not miles, but probably pretty close. They went on for ages and were super cheap. Like $5-$15 dollars for these mind blowing bouquets. I wished I had a place to put them other than to just die in my car for a week because I would have stocked up. There's also tons of food and art and other cool things to peruse while you're there. 2. Visit the Space Needle So, you're going to want to book your ticket to the Space Needle ahead of time. It's likely that you are not going to be able to buy tickets and just go up right then. I think we got there at 2:00 and the soonest we could go up was 9:00 pm. So we booked for the next day. It was fun and you can't beat the view! 3. Find a Troll This famous Seattle landmark is under an unsuspecting bridge. It's a quick and fun stop with little else to see than the Troll. It's just one of those weird things that you don't see everyday and is worth the little drive to see it. 4.Visit the Gum Wal Just a short walk from the Pikes Place Market you can find this other unique Seattle Landmark, and contribute your own sticky masterpiece. 5. Chill in a park We spent a considerable amount of time just roaming around parks, people watching, seeing a free striptease event (no joke), enjoying Brazil fest, eating ice cream, and generally enjoying the Seattle sunshine.
It's easy to run yourself ragged trying to pack in a week's worth of stuff when you only have the better part of two days to enjoy a city. One of the things I love the most about Seattle was just sauntering around and reveling in how much was going on seemingly everywhere. I only scratched the surface of what Seattle has to offer, but if you've go the chance, even if it's only for a day, you can certainly have a lot of fun and mostly for free. With the exception of going up the Space Needle, everything we did was free. So, go have a free fun weekend in Seattle, and don't be afraid to kiss a couple of dead fish, and travel happy! Skeeter
